Anyone coming to Westbad today will find a combination of straightforward charm, Bauhaus finesse and the latest technology. The Bauhaus building was renovated using the passive-house construction method and is designed as a plus-energy hall with solar technology for green and sustainable management. The 14m high curved ceiling, which spans the length of the large hall without any columns or supports, provides flair.
Depending on the event, you can flood the large hall with daylight or professionally darken it and illuminate it according to your wishes. Westbad also offers extensive service options for your event, such as gastronomy, a photo service or floristry, and is fully equipped with WiFi.

Westbad is a former swimming pool in the district of Lindenau, built by Hubert Ritter between 1928 and 1930 and is now used as an event location.
The building is an important example of the Bauhaus era in Leipzig.
The Westbad as event location
The Westbad is located in the center of Leipzig’s West, directly on Lindenauer Markt. With its mighty clinker brick facade, the historic indoor pool fits seamlessly into this cultural hotspot between Theater der Jungen Welt, Felsenkeller, Neues Schauspiel and Musikalische Komödie.
The Westbad was intended to be a place where Leipzigers could learn to swim, compete and have fun – multifunctionality was the keyword. After the baths had to be closed in 1990 because the building was in need of renovation, it reopened its doors in 2015 as a cultural hall and modern event location.
Unique in Leipzig: The Westbad has a fully-fledged upper machine, consisting of six individually mobile hoists, each with a load-bearing capacity of up to 2,000 kg. The media technology pre-installed in this way ensures low set-up effort, hides the cabling and keeps the hall free for decoration and, of course, your guests.
Westbad has been tested according to DIN 18040 by the Disabled Association Leipzig eV. Since the entrance area is only accessible to a limited extent for wheelchair users, we recommend using the barrier-free entrance in the inner courtyard – please indicate this as a requirement when booking or purchasing tickets. All rooms inside Westbad are fully accessible for wheelchair users and can be reached via the elevator. There are also two disabled parking spaces in the inner courtyard.
There are disabled toilets on the 1st floor and at the hall entrance. The toilet door width is 94 cm, to the left of the toilet there is 93 cm, to the right 75 cm, 170 cm x 140 cm. The support handles on the toilet can be folded left and right. The emergency call triggers a light signal directly above the toilet door.
